Colwell, Garcia, Gomez & Gurusiddaiah Medal Again

October 14, 2011 - Roughrider/McDonald’s Invitational - Woodward Park, Fresno - Taking their longest trek of the season to the same course as the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, the Dublin Gaels Cross Country Team continued their award winning ways, bringing home four more medals.  Sophomore Jillian Colwell (15th) is now two-for-two in medaling in varsity races, running the 5000 meter course in 20:46, which was 47 seconds faster than 2010 on the same course.  Classmate Garrett Garcia followed up his victory at the Farmer Invitational with another medal, taking 17th with a time of 12:41 over the 2.2 mile course in the Frosh/Soph Boys Race, leading his team to a season high 6th place finish.  Freshmen Karina Gurusiddaiah (16th - 16:09) and Sabrina Gomez (17th - 16:12) also medaled for the second consecutive week, leading their team to a 5th place finish.    Dublin Results    Complete Results    William Hearne Photos


Garcia Winner; 7 Medalists; Colwell & LeQuin Make All-Time List

October 1, 2011 - Farmer Invitational - Hayward High School, Hayward - Running at the same course of the North Coast Section Championships, the Dublin Gaels Cross Country Team showed that they will be ready for the course come championship season by having seven medalists (one of them a race winner!), three make the all-time lists, and having twenty-four harriers make improvement to their pace from their previous race.  Sophomore Garrett Garcia ran a fantastic race over the 2 mile course, jockeying for position throughout the course and attacking the final hill in winning his first race of his career, crossing the line in 11:33 which was 47 seconds faster than 2010 in the Frosh/Soph Boys Race.  Classmates Justin Lu (4th - 11:38) and Thomas Lee (13th - 11:47 - 1:53 improvement vs. ’10) joined Garcia on the medal stand in what was their most complete team performance on the year.  In the Frosh/Soph Girls race, freshman Karina Gurusiddaiah led the race from the gun until the final moments finally getting edged at the line for a courageous 2nd place finish with a fine time of 14:00.  Joining her in the front group was classmate Annalisa Watson (5th - 14:19) with teammate Sabrina Gomez (9th - 14:33) not that far behind to cap off the girls medalists.  The Varsity Girls Team featured two historic performances on the 3 mile course, one from medalist sophomore Jillian Colwell (3rd - 19:59 - #3 All-Time & #2 Sophomore) and another from junior Jenna Lequin (21:34 - #8 All-Time & #4 Junior) while classmate Paulo Nacionales (18:15 - #9 Junior) lead the Varsity Boys Team.    Dublin Results    Complete Results    William Hearne Photos


Colwell 4th; Frosh/Soph Girls 9th Again

September 17, 2011 - De La Salle/Carondelet Nike Invitational - Newhall Park, Concord - Racing against over 50 high schools and much stiffer competition from the week prior, the Dublin Gaels Cross Country Team again showed major improvement and also brought home some hardware.  Sophomore Jillian Colwell won her second medal of the season with her 4th place finish in the Frosh/Soph Girls Race against many of the same runners from the Ed Sias Invitational just a week ago.  Her time of 13:17.25 over the 2.0 mile course had a mile pace improvement of nearly 20 seconds from Ed Sias, but she wasn’t the only one making major strides.  Freshman Sruthi Veeragandham (17:59.88) nearly improved her mile pace by a full minute in just 7 days!  These two were joined by many other solid contributors who helped the Frosh/Soph Girls Team to their second consecutive 9th place team finish - sophomores Danielle Boccio (19:09.64 - 0:16.9 mile pace improvement vs. 9/10) and Caroline Nolan (19:34.29) and freshman Karina Gurusiddaiah (14:36.26 - 0:14.9 improvement), Annalisa Watson (15:09.93 - 0:00.8 improvement), Sabrina Gomez (16:01.83 - 0:33.5 improvement), Visesha Kakarla (16:21.46 - 0:24.0 improvement) and Aleia Villanueva (19:29.39 - 0:51.5 improvement).  But they weren’t the only Gaels to show vast gains.  In total, 21 out the 29 Dublin harriers who ran on 9/10 improved, including sophomore Rithvik Reddy (17:14.31), who also ran nearly a minute faster per mile!  Sophomore Justin Lu had the fastest time of the day over the shorter course, running 12:08.02 (0:10.6 improvement), while juniors Jenna LeQuin (22:35.09) and Paulo Nacionales (18:23.10 - 0:05.5 improvement) had the fastest time over the 3.0 miles course for the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys, respectively.  Dublin Results    Complete Results    DFAL Results    William Hearne Photos


Frosh Soph Girls 9th; Reddy & Nolan Highlight Improvement

September 10, 2011 - Ed Sias Invitational - Hidden Valley Park, Martinez - Running on the same course as the Diablo Foothill Athletic League Championships against over 50 high schools and 2200+ runners, the Gaels showed great improvement from their 2010 performances and had their first Top 10 team performance of the season.  Led by a 16th place finish from sophomore Jillian Colwell (13:53.8 - 0:41.8 improvement from ‘10) and good pack running from freshmen Karina Gurusiddaiah (15:06.2), Annalisa Watson (15:11.5), Sabrina Gomez (17:08.9) and Visesha Kakarla (17:09.5), the Frosh Soph Girls Team finished a respectable 9th.  Also on this team was sophomore Caroline Nolan, whose 18:42.5 performance was over 3+ minutes better than ‘10!  Classmate Rithvik Reddy also showed great improvement from ’10, nearly shaving 3 minutes off with his run of 18:59.1.  Senior Justin Pryor has the fastest performance of any Gael, pacing to a 11:33.8 time over the tough two mile course.  Running in their first races for Dublin were senior Sean Glaser (18:46.4), sophomore Andrew Europa (13:26.5) and freshman Sruthi Veeragandham (19:51.6).  Dublin Results    Complete Results    DFAL Results    William Hearne Photos


Colwell Winner, 6 Gaels Medal to Open Season

August 26, 2011 - Run on the Green - Woodland High School, Woodland - The Dublin Gaels Cross Country Team got the season started off in grand fashion with six individual medalists, including the race winner and two others from the Frosh/Soph Girls Team.  Sophomore Jillian Colwell picked up where she left off in the track and field season, winning her first race of the season with a time of 13:23 over the two mile course.  She was joined on the medal stand by freshmen Annalisa Watson (8th - 15:04) and Kristen Warren (10th - 15:22), who were running in their first races for the Gaels - ever!  Two other cross country newcomers also medaled - junior Jenna LeQuin (9th - 14:22) in the Varsity Elite Girls Race and sophomore Justin Lu (8th - 12:20) in the Frosh Soph Boys Race.  Junior Kenneth Ainslie capped off the awards with an 8th place, 10:59 performance in the Varsity Elite Boys Race, running the fastest time of the day for the Gaels.  Eleven more Gaels ran in their first races - senior Justin Pryor (11:09); sophomores Danielle Boccio (23:18), Robert Durst (12:55), Sabrina Gomez (19:28), Karl Johansson (13:09), Visesha Kakarla (19:00), Ryland Lyons (14:54), and Billy Sahota (14:24); and freshmen Karina Gurusiddaiah (15:43), William Hearne (13:55) and Aleia Villanueva (26:58).  Dublin Results    Complete Results    Bill Hearne Photos


August 26, 2011 - Run on the Green - Woodland High School, Woodland - The student athletes will be dismissed from 6th period with the bus leaving shortly thereafter.  Please download the Warm-up Schedule, which has the estimated time of each race (there is no official time schedule) and the athletes running in each race.  Please also pack a dinner or money to buy food from the snack bar to eat after the race and bring plenty of water.  The bus should be arriving back at Dublin High School by 10:00 PM.  Go Gaels!


2011 Parent Meeting Agenda - The 2011 Fall Sports Parent Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, at 7:00 PM in the DHS Sports Complex.


August 15, 2011 - 1st Official Day of Practice - The athletic packet must be turned into the activities office in order to participate on the cross country team from this day forward.  You can find all of the information by clicking on the Team Handbook link.


August 10, 2011 - Physicals - There will be physicals administered at Tri-Valley Orthopedics Specialists (4626 Willow Road, Pleasanton) from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM for $35.


July 9, 2011 - Directions to Bayview Trail - Take I-580 towards OAKLAND.  Take exit #26A/WARREN FWY/BERKELEY onto CA-13 N.  Take the CARSON ST/REDWOOD RD exit.  Continue on MOUNTAIN BLVD.  Make a sharp RIGHT turn on REDWOOD RD.  Make a LEFT turn onto SKYLINE BLVD.  You will come to an intersection where SKYLINE BLVD will veer RIGHT.  You will make a RIGHT to stay on SKYLINE BLVD (if you end up on Joaquin Miller Rd, you are going the wrong way).  The BAYVIEW TRAIL is half a mile up this hill on the left hand side.  If you get to Roberts Park, you have gone too far.  Travel time from Dublin High School is 30 minutes.


Incoming Freshmen/Parent Information Meeting

Cross Country 2011 Student Athlete Meeting
